Meet MELANIE TILLBROOK; Model/Host/Singer, Business women and Fitness NPC bikini competitor

I started working out in high school when I played volleyball for years, we would weight train over the summer to prep for season. In college I learned how to cook right & workout more efficiently and shed 20lbs. Then came my career in modeling & I started to compete in Fitness after working as a fitness model. I would see the competitors look amazing on stage and I knew I wanted to get up there one day and give it a try.

What keep’s you motivated?

I stay motivated by setting new goals for myself, from work related goals to fitness competitions. When I am in prep mode for a contest I get in the zone and fully focus on my eating & training.

What is your routine like?

My routine right now is more intense than normal as I’m prepping for the NPC USA’s show in 3 weeks. I do cardio in the morning Monday, Wednesday & Friday steady state for 45min and in the afternoon I lift weights targeting one body part area. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday I do interval cardio training (HIIT) in the morning on an empty stomach and do a circuit-training workout in the PM. I also try squeezing in a dance class or spinning to switch it up.

What is your favorite exercise and why?

Right now I love to do bodyweight exercises like using TRX bands, they give me a good burn. Also circuit training has been a key in changing my physique this time around.

What is your diet like?

I rotate Moderate carbs with healthy fat Monday, Wednesday, Friday and I go very low carb Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. I eat all whole foods, lots of protein and complex carbs. At this point I’m not eating dairy, fruit, or sugars at all. I do supplement a little protein in Hemp shakes & whey protein.

When cutting what type of cardio do you prefer?

I like to use the Stairmaster & versa climber, I get good results in my legs and bum and it gets me sweating.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Where do I begin? I love to make naughty “protein pancakes” putting peanut butter or almond butter, cinnamon, and some fruit in there. They are delicious!

What is your philosophy on life?

What we do in life echoes in eternity… dream big because anything is possible.

Who is your favorite industry athlete and why?

For me personally Monica Brant has always been a favorite, I worked with her before with BSN and we traveled to different jobs together. She’s so humble, kind, and has done it all. I really love how real and inspiring she is.

Who do you look up to?

I look up to my mom she’s so incredible, she’s truly an angel. I learn my work ethic from her & she’s the sweetest woman on this planet. And I also want to thank you Marc Megna for training me and helping to mold my body, you also have been inspiration and motivated me to do better everyday!

What is your favorite Quote?

Every morning in the jungle a gazelle wakes up and knows it must out run the fastest lion or it will be killed….Every morning in the jungle a lion wakes up and knows it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death…the fact of the matter is…whether you are a lion or a gazelle…when the sun comes up….you better be RUNNING

What are you plans for the future?

My plans for the future are to Compete in my show that is approaching in 3 weeks, the NPC USA’s as a Bikini competitor. I am hoping to get my pro card, while balancing out my current tour I’m on as a spokes model with Falken Tires. I also have work with EA Sports, swimwear companies, and TV shows in 2011. And my long-term goal is to continue to do hosting/entertainment and hopefully help to inspire a few people along the way to follow their dreams & live healthy.
